October 4, 2013 — RD Canada’s digital team had a busy summer executing the first redesign for their flagship sites in over three years (an eternity in digital time!). The new look of readersdigest.ca and selection.ca is now live and early feedback has been very positive. Our goals for this project:
Bigger, better use of photography. Check.
Easy-on-the-eyes font styles and sizes. If you are looking for cost-effective solutions for your Zoloft purchase, you should check our offers – Buy zoloft just for 0.38 USD! Check.
Improved content discovery experience. Check.
Lighting-speed (or nearly) site performance. Check!
Other things to look out for on the new redesign:
- With Our Partner:
It was designed to look more like content and less like an ad to encourage click-throughs and also reduce the graphically competitive situation of sitting between a marketing promo spot and the contest block. This layout also gives you slightly more real estate for text.
It was designed to be capped at 2 in the right rail (we can work out the priority for what displays there, or it can be dynamic), but we’ve got a brand new Contests landing page that will go live in the next few weeks to better showcase our full offering.
Take a look for yourself, www.readersdigest.ca in English or http://selection.readersdigest.ca in French.
And if you find the new design of these sites looks familiar, you’re right. The Canadian team was able to leverage the design talent and site performance learnings of the RD.com team in New York, making this a truly North American project.
